National Award–Winning Fashion Designer Chandra Shekhar Shaha Conducts Special Lecture at WUB

The Fashion Design and Apparel Technology program at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) proudly hosted National Award–winning Senior Fashion Designer Chandra Shekhar Shaha, Senior Consultant, Crafts & Design, Aarong (BRAC), for a special lecture session held on 2 December 2025.

This engagement marked an exceptional opportunity for students to interact with one of Bangladesh’s most esteemed design professionals. Mr. Shaha is widely celebrated for his remarkable contributions to the national fashion and craft sectors, particularly in the fields of heritage preservation, craft documentation, artisan capacity-building, sustainable design, and contemporary fashion innovation. His extensive involvement in national and international seminars and workshops has established him as one of the most influential voices in the creative fashion industry.

During the session, Mr. Shaha delivered an insightful lecture on contemporary fashion trends, the fusion of traditional craft techniques with modern design, and the evolving dynamics of the global fashion landscape. He also shared his expertise in craft-based product development, design strategy, and cultural interpretation, providing students with a deep understanding of real-world design processes.

The program aimed to strengthen academic–industry connectivity, enabling students to explore professional design practices, creativity, and market demands in both local and international contexts. His lecture inspired emerging designers to embrace innovation while preserving Bangladesh’s rich craft heritage.

It is also a matter of great pleasure that Mr. Chandra Shekhar Shaha will now be joining the Fashion Design and Apparel Technology program of the World University of Bangladesh as an Adjunct Faculty. His continued involvement will significantly strengthen the academic framework of the program and provide students with sustained access to expert guidance, professional insights, and industry-oriented learning opportunities.
