The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025 were officially announced on December 5, 2025, and in its first-ever participation, the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) has delivered an exceptional performance. WUB ranked 598th globally, 343rd in Asia, and 4th in Bangladesh, reaffirming the University’s strong commitment to sustainability and environmental leadership. The results were formally announced at National Chi Nan University, Taiwan.
In its 16th edition, UI GreenMetric evaluated 1,745 universities from 105 countries, making it the world’s leading sustainability-focused ranking for higher education institutions. WUB’s impressive debut reflects its continuous efforts to integrate sustainable practices across campus operations, research initiatives, teaching, and community engagement.
According to the 2025 results, WUB earned a total score of 6547.5 points, with the category-wise breakdown: SI (Setting & Infrastructure)- 860; EC (Energy & Climate Change): 1,275; WS (Waste): 675; WR (Water): 850; TR (Transportation): 1,487.5; ER (Education & Research): 1,400.
This
milestone highlights WUB’s collective and ongoing commitment to
sustainability—ranging from maintaining green spaces, responsible waste
management, rainfall catchment systems, and tree-planting initiatives to
improving energy efficiency and incorporating environmental education across
its academic programs. WUB continues to rise as a national leader and a growing
global model for sustainable development in higher education.
