The
Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design and the WUB Environmental
Education Cell of the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) held the final
session of their five-day Green Ambassador Training Program on October 27, 2026.
The concluding session, titled "Sustainability
Starts with Us: Shaping a Better Future," was led by an Industrial
Sustainability Expert, Mohammad Ashraful Islam, Editor and CEO of Textile Focus
and Denim Focus. Drawing on his experience in the textile and apparel sector,
he encouraged participants to see sustainability as a shared responsibility
that begins with everyday choices and individual action. He also highlighted
the role young people can play in promoting responsible practices in industry
and society.
Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Head of the Department,
presided over the session. Students from a range of departments attended,
reflecting the program's goal of building environmental awareness across the
university community rather than within a single discipline.
The Green Ambassador training program was
designed to equip students with the knowledge, motivation, and leadership
skills to become advocates for environmental sustainability on campus and
beyond. Over the five days, participants engaged with ideas on environmental
responsibility and sustainable development, preparing them to take these
messages back to their peers and communities.
The program closed with an emphasis on turning
awareness into action. The organizers expressed hope that the newly trained
Green Ambassadors would help foster a more environmentally conscious campus
culture and contribute to a more sustainable future. At the conclusion of the
training session, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the
participating students in recognition of their dedication and active engagement
throughout the program.
