WUB Participates in UNESCO Workshop on Climate Smart Education Systems Initiative (CSESI)

World University of Bangladesh (WUB) participated in the national workshop titled “Curriculum Review and Teacher Readiness Assessment for Climate Education”, held on 1 September 2026 at Holiday Inn Dhaka under UNESCO’s Climate Smart Education Systems Initiative (CSESI).

The workshop was organized by UNESCO in collaboration with the Secondary and Higher Education Division (SHED), Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, with support from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).

The workshop brought together representatives from government institutions, universities, teacher training institutions, development partners, NGOs, and civil society organizations. Participants included representatives from University of Dhaka, BRAC University, and World University of Bangladesh.

Through presentations, group work, and plenary discussions, participants reviewed the integration of Climate Change Education (CCE), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into the curriculum. Discussions also focused on teacher readiness, pedagogical approaches, learning materials, and strategies for strengthening climate education.

The workshop emphasized that climate education becomes meaningful when teachers connect climate-related knowledge with students’ real-life experiences, local contexts, and future challenges.

WUB’s participation reflects its commitment to quality education, sustainability, climate action, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its contribution to national efforts to build a climate-smart education system in Bangladesh.
