A discussion and
cultural program titled ‘Two Stars in One Sky: Remembering Rabindra-Nazrul’
organized by the Cultural Club of World University of Bangladesh was held on 20
May 2026. The program, which started at 11 am at the university’s Founding
Treasurer Morsheda Chowdhury Auditorium, was attended by the Honorable Pro-Vice
Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. M Nurul Islam, Registrar Professor
Zaki Imam, Deans of various faculties, Heads of Departments, Teachers,
Officers, Employees and more than a hundred students of various departments of
the university. Under the guidance of Nirab and Nussybar, students of the
Pharmacy Department and CSE Department, the main article titled
‘Rabindranath-Nazrul: One Sky, Two Stars’ was presented by Bengali Language and
Literature teacher Chinmoy Kumar Mallick. Then the Honorable Chief Guest and
Honorable Registrar discussed the main topic.
The Chief Guest said in
his speech, Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam are always in the hearts
of Bangladeshi. Bengali literature is appreciated in the world today for their
creativity. Then he recited Rabindranath's poem 'Hing Ting Chhat'. He also
encouraged to hold more such programs. The Honorable Registrar mentioned that,
Rabindranath and Nazrul's philosophy of creativity inspires us. He emphasized
the importance of taking their philosophy in our everyday life. He also
expressed hope that the university will provide support in such programs. After
the discussion, a pleasant cultural program was presented by the students of
different departments. Israt Jahan, a student of the English Department,
discussed on ‘Rabindranath and East Bengal’ and Lailatul Choya, a student of
the Law Department, discussed on ‘Nazrul’s Communism’. The Program organized by
the Cultural Club of WUB bought a vibrant and festive mood for the students.
